Recognition for C&W Chamber Training Graduates

C&W Chamber Training (CWCT) recently hosted a graduation day to identify and reward students who graduated with a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood studies.

The graduation ceremony took place at Trentham Gardens in Stoke-in-Trent recently when seven students were recognised and rewarded for their determination and hard work. The Foundation Degree in Early Childhood programme, which is awarded by Staffordshire University and delivered by CWCT combines work based learning with academic study.

The programme was delivered over two years and six months and students were required to attend C&W Chamber Training on a weekly basis either a morning or a afternoon. It presents the opportunity to provide a firm basis for progression to further study such as the BA (Hons) and a route to Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS).

The successful graduates included Pauline Bryan who obtained a 1st class degree and will continue her studies in September 2017 with a BA Honours Degree through Coventry University.  “Taking care of my five children and working as a Teaching Assistant, there were always a number of reasons why I put my studies off. However once I started the foundation degree I found it could be manageable if I was organised and the tutors at CWCT were amazingly helpful.”

Another successful graduate is Jessica Hartshorn as she has shown great progression after studying Levels 2 and 3 Apprenticeship with CWCT before gaining a 2.2 in her foundation degree. “Having worked in a nursery for over two years, I found the combined work based learning suited me. I’m expecting a child in December, but I am planning my next step already which is to obtain a BA (Hons) and then take a PGCE to enable me to work in schools.”

Commenting on the graduates’ success, Claire Roberts, Early Childhood studies tutor at CWCT said: “We are absolutely thrilled for all of the graduates. They have studied so hard and demonstrated a strong ability and desire to achieve.  We are sure each of the students has a bright and successful future ahead of them and we wish them the best of luck.”
