Beth’s Apprenticeship Journey: Early Years Care Excellence

At Chamber Training, we are always proud to celebrate the achievements of our apprentices. Beth Whelan’s journey with Chamber Training began with a Level 3 Early Years Apprenticeship at The Links Daycare Centre LTD. This September, she takes the next exciting step, starting her BA Honours degree in Working in Integrated Services.

Beth chose the apprenticeship route because it allowed her to gain hands-on experience while working towards a qualification. “I wanted to build my knowledge alongside professionals, learning practical skills that supported my assignments,” she explains.

Her opportunity came through the guidance of Nicky Cheshire, Business Development Manager at Chamber Training, and Anne Thomas, Early Years Training Advisor, who Beth credits as being vital mentors throughout her journey.

Now working at The Links Daycare Centre LTD as an Early Years Practitioner, a typical day for Beth involves supporting children in their learning, leading activity groups, and helping with mealtimes and routines.

Since starting her apprenticeship, Beth has seen her confidence grow significantly, alongside key skills in teamwork, communication, and building strong relationships with parents and colleagues. To balance study and work, she relied on careful planning, short daily task lists, and the support of her colleagues and family.

Beth highlights the encouragement she received as crucial to her success. “My managers gave me time to study, my tutors guided me, and my family kept me motivated.”

Looking back, Beth is proudest of progressing from her apprenticeship to achieving a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood. And she’s not stopping there! Her story is a fantastic example of how apprenticeships can open doors to long-term academic and professional success.
