From Apprentice to Headmistress: Emma’s Journey at Davenport Lodge Nursery School

When Emma first began her childcare apprenticeship at Davenport Lodge Nursery School in 2005, she knew she had found her calling. Starting out as an Early Years Care Apprentice, Emma embraced the practical nature of her training:

“The practical nature of apprenticeships was key for me. I gained real hands-on experience while progressing my qualifications and career,” Emma reflects.

Over the years, she steadily advanced her skills and knowledge, starting with her Level 3 and Level 4 Apprenticeships in Early Years with Chamber Training, before achieving a Foundation Degree, a BA Honours in Early Years, and soon, a Level 7 Diploma in Senior Leadership. Her determination, paired with the supportive environment at Davenport Lodge, helped her grow from an eager apprentice into a confident leader. Today, Emma is Headmistress at Davenport Lodge Nursery School, guiding both children and staff with the same dedication that fuelled her own learning journey.

Davenport Lodge is widely recognised as one of Coventry’s leading nursery schools. Catering for children aged six weeks to four years, the nursery equips learners with the academic, social, physical, and emotional tools they need to thrive. Every child is seen as a unique individual, supported by early years specialists who nurture their potential and curiosity.

For Emma, Davenport Lodge has been more than a workplace; it has been the foundation of a rewarding career. Her journey is proof of how apprenticeships can open the door to lifelong growth, opportunity, and leadership.

Chamber Training offers Apprenticeships in Accountancy, Customer Service, Hairdressing, Early Years Care, Business Administration & Health and Social Care.
