Why Employ an Apprentice?

The rewards of hiring an apprentice apply to businesses of all sizes across most industries, so if apprenticeships are unknown territory for your organisation, you can discover the benefits below.

Apprenticeships involve on-the-job training and come in various levels, providing workers with essential skills and knowledge in a particular job and field. Employers often use apprenticeships to entice and grow new talent, as well as to develop the potential of existing workers, such as recent graduates transitioning into different roles or taking on additional duties. Employers may have concerns about the abilities and skill set of apprentices in the early stages of their development. However, this can be one of their greatest strengths. It allows for them to be moulded into your organization to fit your specific needs.

Apprentices will be trained and gain knowledge to understand how your industry works, helping to ensure your future workforce is exactly the way you want it to be. Hiring an apprentice is a cost-effective way to recruit and train your staff. How apprenticeships are funded depends on the size of the business. The apprenticeship levy requires all employers operating in the UK, with a pay bill over £3 million each year, to invest in apprenticeships with 0.5% of their payroll entering an online apprenticeship account. Employers who are not liable for levy payments are required to co-invest with the Government contributing 95% of the cost of training and the employer paying the remaining 5%. In some instances, employers are eligible to receive 100% Government funding,
